Have to teach tomorrow.

Matthew 24:36

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Matthew 13: 30

Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.

If you grew up on a farm or with a garden, you learned to despise weeds. Hours in the broiling sun with a hoe in your hands help you sympathize with farmers who will do anything to get rid of the things.

Over the years the attempts to kill them have included some strong pesticides that killed not only the weeds but all good crops. The pesticides even endangered our health.

In truth, some weeds are quite useful, producing nectar for the bees, improving the soil's nutrients, even providing food for salads. In the divine plan of the Father, everything has its purpose.

Other "weeds" will show their true colors at the harvest. Jesus made that point in His parable. Our job isn't to identify those we may consider "the weeds" and judge them as such. Only He will judge who is gathered to heaven and who is tossed into the fire.

Lord, help me stay alert to avoid the "weeds" Satan is planting. Give me the wisdom to accept those "weeds" that suit your purpose.

I know the Lord must have had a purpose for grass burrs but I'm still trying to figure that out. They sure hurt when I track them into the carpet and I step on them in the middle of the night. Maybe its a message to shape up.

I've been doing some "weeding". And I must say, my life is all the more peaceful because of it.
You are a great teacher Janie. Enjoy it.

Hi Janie. Well, some of those "weeds" are impossible not to recognize but we just have to find a way to deal with them. Hope you are having a really good day:)....

THank, Janie for this entry. I usually go to church on Sunday mornings and sometimes in the afternoons..today I feel like I got what I needed from your entry! I will probably still go but this entry has struck a cord with me. Weeds...both good and bad...help and hinder at the same time. Life is so strange and beautiful at the same time...and these bible readings talk to some of that strangeness and beauty...Thanks, Janie.

The Lord is always using you Janie, because you are willing to let Him.

I read that tares and wheat look exactly alike until harvest time and they go to the threshing floor. The tares go to the fire. The wheat becomes useful.

I like the analogy. You're right, none of us have the right to judge who those weeds may be. I'm sure in our own ways, we are all weeds sometimes lol.

Hi Janie,
Sometimes I feel that my life's study of the Bible for the past 30 years has only scratched the surface. We don't need to know every little tidbit and morsel to preach, share and talk to others about Salvation of God thru Jesus Christ, and the "Road to Romans" seems to be a good start. Some folks can memorize everything on earth except the Bible!
thank you for your warm, insightful comments on "Tom's Journal"!

Warm Regards,

I am with Paula on this one. Farmers years ago had a much harder time because they didn't have pesticides. I have to admit I can not get biblical about weeds.Watched my family and participated myself in trying to keep weeds from taking over our livlihood. I am sure you did fine teaching. Lucy
